Which facial procedures give you the most bank for your buck that can be done under local anesthesia

This is a very interesting question and can be almost misleading since there is a lot that can be achieved under local anesthesia. In an appropriate patient, Facelift can safely be performed under local anesthesia. However, in the context of this blog, we are going to focus on procedures that can almost always be done under local anesthesia. Three procedures will probably make the most dramatic difference to your appearance with minimal downtime and can be done in less than an hour under local anesthesia.

  1. Buccal Fat Removal – Buccal fat removal is a well-known procedure that has been around for a long period of time but it has made a dramatic comeback in popularity over the past decade. Patients who are worried about full or chubby cheeks, giving an overweight appearance, would be the perfect candidate for this procedure. It can be safely done with just local anesthesia using an intra oral incision, and the whole surgery takes about 30 minutes.
  2. Chin Liposuction- Not uncommonly, chin liposuction is done in conjunction with buccal fat removal or as a stand-alone procedure. It helps in addressing double chin, which is commonly due to fat deposition under your chin. Typically, 3 tiny incisions are made and specialized liposuction cannulas are used for Liposuction after infiltration with tumescent solution. This procedure can also be done in less than an hour and can dramatically affect your overall facial appearance.
  3. Upper Blepharoplasty – Upper Blepharoplasty can address loose or sagging skin of upper eyelids that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision. An incision is made along the upper eyelid crease, and the appropriate amount of skin and soft tissue is removed to provide a rejuvenated appearance to your eyelid. The whole procedure can be done in less than an hour.
